Manage Adobe profiles

Last updated on May 18, 2026

Learn what Business and Personal profiles are, which one to choose, and how to switch, configure, or move content between them.

If you use the same email address for more than one Adobe plan, and at least one is a business plan, Adobe creates a separate profile for each plan, each with its own dedicated storage.

Watch this video to learn about Business IDs, enterprise storage, and Adobe profiles.

Note: The video is currently only available in English.

What are Business and Personal profiles?

A Business profile is associated with a plan provided by an organization, such as a business, government entity, or educational institution. Examples include Creative Cloud for teams or enterprise, Acrobat for teams or enterprise, Adobe Stock for teams, and Experience Cloud. Content in a Business profile may be accessed or controlled by your plan administrator, and isn't accessible to your team unless you share it.

A Personal profile is associated with a plan you purchase for individual use, or a Creative Cloud free membership. You maintain sole control over content in your Personal profile.

A Personal profile isn't available if you sign in with a school or business account (Enterprise ID or Federated ID).

Select a profile at sign-in

Choose the right profile

Choose your Business profile when you:

  • Access a business plan provided by your organization
  • Sign in to the Admin Console as an admin
  • Have chosen to move personal assets into a business profile

Choose your Personal profile when you:

  • Access a plan you purchased for individual use
  • Have multiple business plans from different organizations, and need to access assets not yet sorted into a business profile
  • Need Creative Cloud free membership benefits, such as fonts, not available with Document Cloud plans
  • Redeem existing Adobe Stock credits
  • Access products such as FrameMaker or Captivate that aren't managed through the Admin Console
Note

To find out which plans you currently have under the same email address, view your Adobe account at account.adobe.com.

When multiple profiles are created

Adobe sets up a separate profile for you when any of the following applies:

  • You have a business plan in addition to an individual plan
  • Multiple organizations provide you with business plans
  • You have admin privileges across more than one organization in the Admin Console
  • Your organization uses Directory Trust, which creates a profile for both the main and trustee organizations

Switch between profiles

Sign out, then sign back in. After you enter your credentials, select the profile you want from the profile chooser.

Turn on or off automatic profile selection

When you sign in, Adobe filters the list of profiles to the most appropriate ones. If there's only one applicable profile for the app or service you're trying to sign in to, that profile is automatically selected.

You can control how Adobe sleects a profile for you at sign-in.

Sign in to your Adobe Account.

Go to Account and security > Sign-in and security.

Under Automatic profile selection, turn the setting on or off

Automatic profile selection settings in Adobe account showing options to default to Business profile and display profile selection notifications.

Move assets between profiles

To move content from one profile to another, see Manually transfer Adobe assets.

Note

Content stored outside Adobe cloud storage, such as on a hard disk or a third-party cloud service, isn't affected by profiles. For details on the account and profile chooser you see at sign-in, see Sign in to Adobe apps.

Skip the profile chooser entirely

If you'd rather not switch between profiles, use a distinct email address for each organization you have a paid entitlement with.
