Manually transfer Adobe assets

Learn how to manually transfer Adobe assets between Adobe accounts or profiles, including Creative Cloud files, cloud documents, libraries, Lightroom content, and Adobe Express projects.

Use Automated Asset Migration to move supported content from an Adobe ID account to an Enterprise ID or Federated ID account. To move content between Adobe accounts or profiles, transfer your assets manually.

Before you begin

Sign in to both source and destination accounts.
Ensure there's enough cloud storage in the destination account.
Close open files before transferring.

Choose what to transfer

Note

Manual transfers copy supported files only. Comments, version history, shared links, invitations, and collaborations aren't transferred.

Creative Cloud Synced Files are no longer supported for many users and organizations. See Creative Cloud Synced Files deprecation for details.

Illustrator or Photoshop Cloud documents

Go to Files > Files > Cloud documents. You can download up to 10 documents at a time.

Select Download from the More Options menu and download the file as PSD or AI data.

Sign out of the source account and sign in with the destination Adobe ID.

Access My Files from the Files menu.

Drag and drop the downloaded PSD or AI data files.

Select Continue when the Convert to Cloud Document window appears. We recommend that you convert files with the same file extensions at a time. If an error occurs, reduce the number of documents or rename files using single-byte alphanumeric characters before uploading and converting.

When the upload is complete, a success message is displayed.

Adobe XD Cloud documents

Go to Files and hover over an Adobe XD cloud document.

From the context menu on top, select Download.

Sign out, and then sign in to the destination account or profile.

In your Creative Cloud desktop app, drag the downloaded file to Your files in the destination account or profile.

When prompted, select Continue to convert the file to a cloud document.

To migrate Libraries from one account or profile, you can use the Libraries panel and export as an offline .cclib file. Alternatively, you can use the Creative Cloud sharing and collaboration features.

Use the Libraries panel in apps such as Photoshop or Illustrator to export Creative Cloud Libraries and then reimport them to the profile of your choice.
Use the Link sharing feature to share and then copy a library to the destination account. This method does not require installed apps and can be done using any device.

Caution

When copying libraries:

The library copied to the destination account or profile does not have any of the collaborations or sharing links of the source library.
If the library contains documents that are stored in the source account or profile, these documents are not copied over.
Adobe Stock licenses are not transferred.

To use the sharing features, do the following:

Hover over a library and select the checkbox.

Select Share > Get Link.

Select Copy Link.

Note

If you have several libraries to migrate, generate and store all the links for easy access.

Sign out and then go to the links copied in Step 4. A preview of the library displays. Instead of signing out, you can also use a different browser or Incognito mode.

Select Create a copy. You'll be prompted to sign in. Sign in with the destination account or profile.

If you copied several links, paste those links and select Create a copy for all the libraries you want to transfer.

Verify that the libraries are copied to the Libraries section in the destination account.

Download your photos from Lightroom and store them in a profile of your choice. After you back them up, remove them from Lightroom.

Caution

Sharing information, comments, album membership, likes, flags, and ratings aren't transferred with Lightroom photos.

Download your documents from the source account or profile, then upload them to the destination account or profile.

Download previously licensed Adobe Stock assets using the License History feature. After downloading the assets, import them into the destination account.

Adobe Express is only available online when you're connected to the Internet, so there isn't a way to keep any source files offline. You can either choose to migrate your projects from one account or profile to another, or you download the output of each project.

Download file output

Go to Your stuff > Files.

Hover over a file and select the More Options icon.

Select Download from the dropdown menu, choose an output file format and start download.

The file is saved to your local downloads.

Copy files to another account

Need to migrate files between profiles or accounts? You can only share projects and files from one account to another. After sharing projects or files, you can duplicate the file so it becomes available in the Your stuff view.

Hover over a file, select the More Options icon, and select Share > Copy Link.

Open an Incognito (Google Chrome) or InPrivate (Microsoft Edge) browser window, go to new.express.adobe.com, and sign in with the destination account or profile.

Open a tab in the browser and paste the copied link. When prompted, select Request Access.

Go back to the source browser window, you'll have received a notification from your other account or profile. Select the Notification icon and then select the request access notification you received.

Select the checkbox under the Request to edit section.

Go back to the destination browser window, go to new.express.adobe.com.

Go to Your stuff. Hover over the file you've just shared from your source account or profile, select the More Options icon and then select Duplicate.

The file that you've shared from your source account or profile can be found in the Shared with you view. Files that you duplicate, are available in the Yours view.

Note

Duplicated files will not include the original collaborators. You will need to reshare the file with appropriate collaborators.

Fonts activated on your desktop are available only while you're signed in to the Creative Cloud desktop app with the account or profile that activated them. After you switch accounts or profiles, reactivate the fonts. If a document contains missing fonts, apps such as InDesign and Illustrator prompt you to activate them.

To migrate your Premiere Rush project, you'll use Premiere. Complete the entire workflow in Premiere, and publish your video from Premiere itself.

Sign into Premiere with your source account or profile.

In the Premiere start screen, select Open Premiere Rush Project.

Choose any Premiere Rush project that is synced with Creative Cloud to open and continue editing in Premiere.

Select a Premiere Rush project to open it.

Save the file.

By default, the file is saved to the Converted Rush projects folder on your machine. If you want to save the file elsewhere, use File > Save as, and go to a location of your choice.

Go to Mobile Creations. Select a project by hovering the mouse over it, and check the box that displays.

You can share Photoshop Sketch, Illustrator Draw, Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Fix, and Adobe Comp projects.

Select either Get link or Share, and then select Get Link.

Select Copy Link, and share the copied link with the alternate profile.

You have two Behance accounts that co-exist, one associated with each account or profile. There is no direct way to migrate the data from Behance. As a work-around, you could do the following for Behance.

Note the Behance handle, as you'll need it later. For example, in the URL https://behance.net/ABCD789, you'll use ABCD789 to share projects.

In another browser (or Incognito/InPrivate mode window), sign in to Behance using your source account or profile.

Go to a project you want to share. Select Settings.

Select Add co-owners, credits, and more.

In the Co-Owners field, enter the Behance profile name of your destination account or profile and select Done. And then select Update Project.

In the main or destination browser window, you'll receive a notification. Accept the invite to join the project as a co-owner. You will be able edit the project and it'll also appear in your portfolio.

Select one of your sites.

Select Settings in the left panel.

Select Account & Region.

Under Use Another Adobe ID, select Use Personal Adobe ID.

Enter the Adobe ID you wish to move your sites to.

Select Continue and then Done.

Check your email account under the new/personal account and select the link provided.

Select Edit your Portfolio to exit.

Content that requires manual action

To migrate app settings, sign in to an app with the source account or profile and sync your settings. Sign out, then sign in with the destination account or profile and sync the settings again. The following settings and content types require additional actions:

Mobile creations: You can't transfer mobile creations between cloud accounts.
Creative Cloud Market assets and Design Libraries: These are account-specific. Download the assets again and recreate your Design Libraries.
Adobe Color data: Ask your administrator to contact Adobe Customer Care for migration assistance.
