End-user policies

Learn how admin policies control app installation, updates, and access in Creative Cloud desktop.

When IT manages deployment, admin policies control which Creative Cloud features you see. These policies determine whether you can install apps, how updates are handled, and which app versions you can access.

Apps panel access

The Apps tab is the main interface for installing and updating Adobe apps. Admins can centrally block access to manage deployments. In that case, they install and update apps with deployment packages, ensuring consistent versions across the organization.

When disabled, you can't install new apps or change versions, but you can still launch existing applications.

Automatic update controls

Your Creative Cloud desktop app has an Auto-update setting for automatic application updates. When your admin enables automatic updates, your applications update automatically in the background when new versions are released. You'll see an Auto-update toggle in the Apps section.

Some organizations enable automatic updates but delay their availability. Your admin can configure a 30-day waiting period before new versions appear in your Creative Cloud desktop app.

Your organization might enforce automatic updates, preventing you from turning off the Auto-update setting. When enforcement is active, the toggle appears locked in Creative Cloud desktop, and your apps update automatically regardless of your preference.

Older application access

Creative Cloud removes older applications that Adobe no longer maintains, such as Adobe Muse. By default, end‑of‑life apps don't appear in Creative Cloud. When admins enable access, a Show older apps toggle appears under Settings. Retired apps become visible so users can install and update them.
