Acrobat XI opens in trial mode or prompts for a serial number | Creative Cloud members, Acrobat XI subscribers

You are a Creative Cloud Member or Acrobat subscriber, but when you open Acrobat XI, it shows:

  • the trial screen and prompts you to License this Software or continue in Trial mode.

OR

  • the serial number screen and prompts you to enter a serial number.

This issue can occur when the licensing information for the membership or subscription is no longer available to Acrobat.

Solution one: License the software to clear the trial mode or serial number prompt

Option 1:

  1. Within the trial screen, click License this Software.

  2. Enter the Adobe ID tied to your Creative Cloud membership or Acrobat subscription.

  3. Click OK.

Option 2:

  1. Within the serial number screen, click Back.

  2. Click Not your Adobe ID.

  3. Sign in with the Adobe ID tied to your Creative Cloud membership or Acrobat subscription.

Solution two: Sign out of CC Desktop application (Creative Cloud members only)
