Explore the document options and help resources on the Adobe Illustrator Home screen.

When you open Illustrator, the Home screen is what you see by default. It provides you with various document presets and templates, tutorials to get started with Illustrator, and help resources.

Document options

You get the options to create and manage documents in the left pane of the Home screen:

Option

Function

New file

Opens the New Document window and lets you select a document preset or template to create a new Illustrator document.

Open

Opens the macOS or Windows file explorer to let you open an existing local Illustrator document (.ai) or any other file format compatible with Illustrator.

Home

Switches back to the Home screen view if you had selected other options.

Learn

Shows Hands-on tutorials and other in-app tutorials to help you learn the various features and workflows.

Your files

Shows the Illustrator cloud documents (.aic) you have created, and the options to manage them.

Shared with you

Shows the Illustrator cloud documents shared by your stakeholders with you.

Deleted

Shows the Illustrator cloud documents you’ve deleted from the Your files section in the last 30 days. After 30 days, the files in the Deleted folder are permanently deleted.

Help resources

You can find Illustrator help resources and access your Creative Cloud account in the upper-right corner of the Home screen:

Shows the storage space you’ve used and the limit.

Shows various help resources and tutorials for the Illustrator feature you search.

Shows the latest enhancements in Illustrator, and the relevant help resources.

Gives access to your Creative Cloud account.
