Delete artboards

Learn how to remove artboards from your Illustrator document to keep your workspace organized.

Select Window > Artboards to open the Artboards panel.

Select one or more artboards you want to delete in one of the following ways:

  • Select the artboard name in the Artboards panel to select one artboard.
  • Shift-click the first and last artboard in a range to select all artboards in between.
  • Ctrl + A (Windows) or Command + A (macOS) to select all artboards.
  •  Press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) as you select artboards in nonsequential order.

Select the Delete Artboard  icon.

Tip

You can also delete artboards using the  Properties or Control panel. 

To delete all empty artboards at once, select Artboards panel menu  icon in the Artboards panel, and then select Delete Empty Artboards.

The more options menu in the Artboards panel displays options such as creating new artboards, duplicating, converting objects to artboards, modifying settings, and rearranging them. Delete Empty Artboards is highlighted for removing artboards that contain no content.

Note

Your document requires at least one artboard. If you try to delete all the artboards, the artboard that’s numbered 1 will remain.
