Manage generated variations

Learn how to manage the variations generated using Text to Vector Graphic, Generative Shape Fill, and Generative Expand.

A variation generated using Text to Vector Graphic, Generative Shape Fill, or Generative Expand applied on the canvas is called a Generative Object, indicated by   on its boundary. When you select a Generative Object, only the batch of variations it came from (linked variations) appears in the Properties panel. However, the Generated Variations panel shows all the variations generated in your document using these features.

You can generate similar variations, provide feedback, report, and delete variations from the Properties panel or the Generated Variations panel. However, the results of deleting variations from both panels differ.

Do one of the following:

  • Select the Generative Object on the canvas if you want to manage its linked variation from the Properties panel.
  • Select Window > Generated Variations to open the Generated Variations panel if you want to manage all instances of the variation centrally.

Hover over the variation in the selected panel, select More options   , and then select one of these options:

  • Generate Similar   : Generates variations similar to the selected variation without the need to type a prompt or remember the settings. This option is available only if the variation was generated using Text to Vector Graphic.
  • Good result   or Poor result   : Provides feedback options for the variation.
  • Report variation: Flags issues with the variation.
  • Delete variation   :
    • From the Properties panel: Deletes the variation as a linked variation but retains it in the Generated Variations panel.
    • From the Generated Variations panel: Deletes the variation permanently, including all the instances where it is a linked variation.
Note

Even if you delete a Generative Object from the canvas, the Generated Variations panel retains the variations.
