Learn to place and adjust your artwork as a graphic map on a 3D object to create custom surface designs.
Use any existing symbols or create new graphics to map artwork onto 3D surfaces. In Adobe Illustrator, graphics are specific to each document. A 3D object comprises multiple surfaces, such as a cube, cylinder, or cone. Mapping lets you apply artwork to individual surfaces, such as placing a label on a bottle or adding different textures to each side of an object.
Select Window > 3D and Materials, and then select the Materials tab.
In the All Materials & Graphics panel, select Add Materials and Graphics icon at the lower-right of the panel and then select Add as Single Graphic. You can also drag and drop to add a graphic to the 3D panel.
Select the 3D object you want to map the artwork to.
Select Graphics in the All Materials & Graphics panel and then select the artwork thumbnail to apply it.
Select and drag the blue widget on the applied graphic to adjust the mapped artwork to move it around the 3D object.
To add another graphic, repeat steps 3-6, and select a different graphic thumbnail from the Graphics panel.
Save or export your design with the applied 3D graphic.
