Blend Options overview

Learn about the Blend Options to control the transitioning of blended objects by adjusting their spacing and orientation.

Change the settings of an existing blend in the Blend Options dialog box. To access it, select the blended object and double-click the Blend tool in the tool panel. 

You can customize the following Blend Options as per your requirement:

Option

Function

Spacing

Determines how many steps are added to the blend.

  • Smooth Colour: Automatically calculates the optimal number of steps for smooth blends—based on color transitions or the distance between objects, depending on their fill or stroke.
  • Specified Steps: Controls the number of steps between the start and end of the blend.
  • Specified Distance: Controls the distance between steps in the blend, measured from the edge of one object to the corresponding edge on the next object.

Orientation

Determines the orientation of blended objects.

  • Align to Page : Aligns the blend perpendicular to the x-axis of the page.
  • Align to Path : Aligns the blend perpendicular to the path.

Preview

Displays the live changes of the blend as you adjust settings in the Blend Options dialog box.

The canvas displays the Blend Options dialog box with Spacing and Orientation options.
Change the blended object’s Spacing and Orientation in the Blend Options dialog box.

Tip

You can also do one of the following to access the Blend Options:

  • Select Object > Blend > Blend Options.
  • Select Blend Options under Quick Actions in the Properties panel.
