Rotate objects in 3D

Learn to rotate objects in 3D to add dynamic angles and depth in Adobe Illustrator.

Select the object.

Select Effect > 3D and Materials > 3D (Classic) > Rotate (Classic).

In the 3D Rotate Options (Classic) dialog box, select Preview to see the effect in the document window.

Select More Options to view the complete list of options, or Fewer Options to hide the extra options.

Use the following options to control the object's rotation and surface appearance:

  • Position: Sets the object's rotation and viewing angle.
  • Surface: Creates various surfaces, from dull and unshaded matte to glossy and highlighted surfaces that look like plastic.
The 3D Rotate Options (Classic) dialog box is displayed and allows you to adjust the rotation angle and surface style of the selected object, preview changes, and expand additional controls for shading, lighting, and blending using the More Options setting.
Adjust viewing angles and surface appearance to customize the 3D look of your object.

Select OK.
