Create and add new artboards

Select Artboards from the tool panel. If the Artboards icon isn’t visible, select Window > Artboards.

Select New Artboard in the Artboards panel.

Tip

You can also create a new artboard by selecting the Artboard tool in the tool panel and dragging the artboard icon in your workspace as desired. To select any artboard in your design, press Shift + O.

Select Artboard Options in the Artboards panel.

Specify the Name of your artboard in the Artboard Options dialog box, and do any of the following:

  • Select a Preset from the drop-down list or enter Custom values in the Width and Height fields.
  • Select a Reference Point in the grid and set X and Y positions to define artboard placement.
  • Select Orientation as Portrait or Landscape.
  • Enable or disable Constrain Proportions to maintain aspect ratio.

Turn on the Display options Show Center Mark, Show Cross Hairs, and Show Video Safe Areas, as required. You can also select Video Ruler Pixel Aspect Ratio under Display for an accurate on-screen preview.

Modify Global options as required, and then select OK or press Esc if no changes are needed.

Add new artboards

Select New Artboard in the Properties panel.

Double-click the artboard to make changes to the artboard. 

Select OK to apply changes or press Esc to exit artboard editing mode.

Tip
  • You can also create new artboards from the Artboard, Properties, and Control panels.
  • You can open the Artboard Options dialog box from the Artboards, Properties, or Control panel to set artboard presets, artboard orientation, modify dimensions, and adjust the position of your artboard.

Add artboards instantly

When the Artboard  tool is active, the   buttons appear on the edges of the selected artboard, only when there’s enough space on the canvas to add another artboard of the same size. This makes it easier to expand your workspace in any direction without rearranging the artboards manually.

Select the Artboard   tool in the toolbar.

Select the   button on the edge of your artboard.
