Find and replace fonts

Learn how to use find and replace fonts to change the appearance of the selected text across the document.

Find and replace fonts

Select Type > Find/Replace Font.

In the Find/Replace Font dialog box, select the font from the Fonts in Document.

Note

Illustrator highlights only one continuous instance of the font in the document at a time. Use the Fonts in Document list to locate all the instances of the font.

Select one of the replacement lists from the Replace With Font From dropdown menu:

  • Document: Lists all the fonts used in the document.
  • Recent: Lists all the recent fonts.
  • System: Lists all the fonts installed on your computer.

Replace the current font with a new font.

Select the font style from the list to replace it with the selected text.

Select Change to replace only the selected instance or select Change All to replace all instances of the font in the document.

Select Done to view changes to the selected text.

Find similar fonts

Select Window > Type > Character.

In the Character panel, select the Set the font family dropdown, and then select Fonts or Find More.

Hover over a font and select Show Similar Fonts icon.
