Content Credentials are a new kind of tamper-evident metadata that get added to the assets generated using generative AI features exported as JPG, PNG, or SVG files. They increase transparency around the origins and history of the assets they are applied to.

With version 29.4:

  • If an old or new file doesn't contain generative AI content, Illustrator won't add Content Credentials to any new generative AI content you create.
  • If you import artwork that already includes Content Credentials (such as from Adobe Firefly and earlier Illustrator versions) into an old or new file, Illustrator will preserve them when you export that artwork. Additionally, in such files:
    • Illustrator won't add Content Credentials to any new generative AI content you create and export as a separate asset.
    • Illustrator will preserve the Content Credentials if you export the new generative AI content along with the imported artwork.

With versions 29.3 and earlier: As before, Illustrator will add Content Credentials to all new generative AI content and preserve the Content Credentials included in any imported artwork.
