Create brush libraries

Learn how to create and save a brush library and open it in Adobe Illustrator.

Select Window > Brushes.

In the Brushes panel:

  • To add new bushes, select the plus icon.
  • To remove any brushes from your library, select the delete icon.

Select the Brushes panel menu icon, and then select Save Brush Library to save the new library to your device.

Create a new library file with the current brushes using the Save Brush Library option from the Brushes panel menu.

Place the new library file in one of the following folders to access it from the Brush Libraries menu:

  • (Windows) Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator <version number> Settings\en_US\x64\Brushes
  • (macOS) Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator <version number>/en_US/Brushes
Note

Replace <version number> based on the version of Illustrator that you have installed on your system. 

To open the saved brushes, select Window > Brush Libraries, and then select and open the file.

To open the brushes saved in a different folder, select Window > Brush Libraries > Other Library, and then select the brushes file and open it in Illustrator.
