Learn how to move objects to different layers in Illustrator to keep your artwork organized and manageable.
Tip
If you are using the Layers panel to select objects, press Shift while selecting adjacent objects, and press Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) while selecting non-adjacent objects.
Select Window > Layers to open the Layers panel.
To move objects to an existing layer:
- In the Layers panel, select the name of the layer to which you want to move objects.
- Select Object > Arrange > Send to Current Layer.
To move objects to a new layer, select the Layers panel menu icon, and then select Collect in New Layer.
