Create radial repeats

Last updated on Sep 11, 2025

Learn how to create and modify radial repeats in Illustrator.

Select the object that you’d like to repeat using the Selection tool.

Select Object > Repeat. Then, select Radial.

Tip

The selected object is duplicated around a central axis by default, typically with eight instances.

Use the on-canvas controls and adjust the following settings:

  • Drag the instance handle to increase or decrease the number of repeats.
  • Drag the circular radius handle outward or inward to spread the objects farther from or closer to the center.
  • Drag the splitter on the circle to remove some instances, keeping the repeated artwork
    unchanged.
  • Drag from the corner of the bounding area to increase or decrease the overall size of the radial repeat.
