Align text

Learn how to align text to ensure the consistency of the text layout.

Align text vertically

Select the text frame using the Selection tool.

Select Type > Type Orientation > Vertical.

Select Type > Area Type Options.

In the Area Type Options dialog box, select one of the given Vertical alignment options as needed:

  • Right: Aligns text to the right of the frame.
  • Center: Aligns text to the center of the frame.
  • Left: Aligns text to the left of the frame.
  • Justify: Distributes text evenly from top to bottom of the frame.
The Area Type Options dialog box is displayed on the screen showcasing various settings such as Width, Height, Offset, and more.
In the Area Type Options dialog box, enter the required number of rows and columns to divide the text area.

Tip

Alternatively, you can select the vertical alignment options in the Properties or Control panel.

Align objects with glyph bounds

Select Window > Align.

In the Align panel, select More Options > Align to Glyph Bounds > Area Text.

Note

You can even select Point Text option under the Align to Glyph Bounds dropdown menu depending on the text type.

Select the object and text using the Selection  tool.

Select the desired alignment option from the Align Objects section in the Align panel.
