Glyphs panel overview

Get an overview of the Glyphs panel in Illustrator to view, filter, and insert Glyphs from a wide range of fonts.

Select Window > Type > Glyphs to access the Glyphs panel. By default, the Glyphs panel displays all the Glyphs for the currently selected font. You can change the font by selecting a different font family and style from the Glyphs panel.

Note

Select Alternates For Current Selection from the Show menu dropdown in the Glyphs panel to view alternate characters for the selected text.

When you select an OpenType font in the Glyphs panel, you can restrict the panel to display certain kinds of Glyphs by selecting a category from the Show menu.

Tip

You can also display a pop-up menu of alternate Glyphs by selecting a glyph in the glyph box, where applicable.

Show menu

Filters the Glyphs displayed in the Glyphs panel.

Set the font family

Specifies the font used in the Glyphs panel.

Font Style

Sets the style of the selected font.

Zoom Out

Reduces the preview size of Glyphs.

Zoom In

Increases the preview size of Glyphs.
