Starting with version 21.9 (Beta), InDesign and InCopy now offer native support for Windows on ARM (ARM64). These applications run directly on Windows devices with Snapdragon X Series ARM architecture-based processors, delivering enhanced responsiveness and performance. Importing HEIC/HEIF files on Windows requires both the HEIF Image Extensions and the HEVC Video Extensions.
Previous versions (21.x) of InDesign (Beta) will continue to run in emulation mode on Windows ARM devices.
Minimum system requirements
- Processor:
- Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100 (up to 3.4 GHz, 12 cores)
- Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (AVX2) Support (20.0 or later)
- Graphics: Snapdragon X Elite Qualcomm Adreno
- Operating System: Supported on Windows 11 version 24H2 (26100.7623) for 21.0 and later beta builds. To check your Windows version, select Window + R, or type the winver command in the Run dialog box.
Fix startup error (0xc0000142) on Windows ARM
Update your Windows 11 to the latest version, as the minimum supported version for 21.0 and later beta builds on Windows 11 is 24H2 (26100.7623) and 25H2 (26200.7623).
Known issues
When running different workflows, you may notice few issues:
- Cloud documents functionality is currently unavailable.
- Visual artifacts may occasionally appear when using GPU Preview.
Workaround: Switch to CPU Preview.
