Learn how to remove unused parent pages in Adobe InDesign to manage your document and keep your page template library clean.

Delete parent pages you no longer need to keep your parent page collection organized. Before deleting, verify that the parent layout is no longer required or has already been replaced with a different parent on your document pages. Deleting a parent page is permanent and cannot be undone after saving the document.

Open the Pages panel (Window > Pages).

Select one or more parent page icons that you want to delete in the Pages panel. To select all unused parent pages, select the panel menu icon, then select Parent Pages > Select Unused Parents.

Drag the selected parent pages to the Delete selected pages icon at the bottom-right of the panel. You can also select the panel menu icon, then select Delete Parent Spread from the Pages panel menu.

When you delete a parent, the [None] parent is applied to any document page to which the deleted parent was applied.
