Create and manage print presets

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Learn how to save print settings as reusable presets in Adobe InDesign to streamline your printing workflow.

Print presets store all settings from the Print dialog box, letting you apply consistent configurations across jobs and reduce errors.

They can be imported, shared, or synchronized across documents and book files, and work with both PostScript and non-PostScript printers.

Create a print preset

Select File > Print Presets > Define and then select New.

In the New Print Preset dialog box, type a new name or accept the default.

Configure print settings across all available categories.

Select OK to save the preset and return to the Print Presets dialog box.

Select OK.

You can also create a print preset by selecting File > Print, adjusting print settings, and selecting Save Preset. Type a name or use the default, and then select OK.

Apply a print preset

Select File > Print.

Select a preset from the Print Preset menu.

Review the settings applied by the preset.

Select Print.

Tip

Print directly using a preset without opening the Print dialog box by selecting File > Print Presets > <Preset name>.

Edit a print preset

Select File > Print Presets > Define.

Select a preset from the list and select Edit.

Adjust any print settings in the categories.

Select OK to save changes and return to the Print Presets dialog box, then select OK again.

Delete print presets

Select File > Print Presets > Define.

Select one or more presets from the list.

Select Delete and confirm the deletion when prompted.

Select OK.
