Manage motion presets

Learn how to reuse and share animation settings in Adobe InDesign using motion presets.

Manage motion presets in InDesign to reuse animation settings across documents and maintain consistency. You can create custom presets from existing animations, apply them to other objects, and share them by exporting and importing XML files. Custom presets store motion path and animation properties, making it easier to apply the same effects without recreating them each time.

Save a custom motion preset

Select Window > Interactive > Animation, then configure the animation settings to save as a preset.

Select the panel menu icon, then select Save.

Enter a name in the Name field, then select OK.

Delete a custom motion preset

Select Window > Interactive > Animation.

Select the panel menu icon, then select Manage Presets.

Select the custom preset to remove, then select Delete.

Duplicate an existing preset

Select Window > Interactive > Animation.

Select the panel menu icon, then select Manage Presets.

Select the preset to duplicate, then select Duplicate.

Save motion preset as an XML file

Select Window > Interactive > Animation.

Select the panel menu icon, then select Manage Presets.

Select the preset to export.

Select Save As.

Specify a name and location for the XML file.

Select Save.

Import a motion preset from an XML file

Select Window > Interactive > Animation.

Select the panel menu icon, then select Manage Presets.

Select Load.

Navigate to and select the XML preset file, then select Open to import the preset.
