Share documents with review links

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Learn how to use Share for Review to generate shareable links and gather feedback in Adobe InDesign.

Share for Review creates web links to InDesign documents so stakeholders can view and comment in a browser. Comments appear in InDesign, where you can review, reply to, or resolve feedback. This workflow keeps feedback centralized and reduces file versioning issues.

Use Invite to Edit when collaborators need to modify the document.

Create a review link

Open your InDesign document or create a new one.

Select File > Share for Review, and then select Create link.

Select any permission level:

  • Anyone with the link can comment: Creates a public link accessible to anyone.
  • Only invited people can comment: Creates a private link requiring email invitations.

Rename the link to distinguish between multiple review rounds.

Select Copy to copy the link to your clipboard and share it with stakeholders.

Update shared content

Update the shared content to preserve the link URL and all existing feedback, eliminating the need to create new links for each revision cycle.

Open the shared InDesign document and make your revisions.

Select File > Share for Review > Update content.

Stakeholders refresh their browser to see your updates without losing their comments or annotations.

Manage review link settings

Select File > Share for Review.

Select More options and select any of the following:

  • Link settings: Turn on comments and share password-protected links.
  • Create new review link: Generate additional links. All setting changes and in-app comments are added only to the latest review link.
  • Delete review link: Remove the current link and revoke access.
  • Manage review links: View all the review links in the Review links tab on the Adobe website.
Share for review dialog box displaying the link name, permission level, the link management menu, and the Update content button.
Create a new link, manage link settings, or delete a link from the Share for review dialog box.

Tip
  • Using File > Save As clears review comments from the document. Use File > Save to preserve comments while saving your work.
  • If you cannot access existing review information after upgrading InDesign, reopen the document in the latest version to restore visibility of comments.
