Learn how to adjust media settings in Adobe InDesign for interactive PDFs to control playback and accessibility options.

Change media settings in InDesign to control how movies and sound files behave in Interactive PDFs. You can define playback options and add descriptions to improve accessibility. These settings apply when exporting to Adobe PDF (Interactive) and provide additional control over how media appears in supported PDF viewers.

Use the Selection tool and select the media object.

Select Window > Interactive > Media.

Select the panel menu icon.

Choose PDF Options.

In the Description field, enter a description that appears if the media file cannot be played in Acrobat. This description also acts as alternative text for visually impaired users.

To play the video in a separate window, select Play Video in Floating Window. This option is unavailable for audio files.

Specify the Size relative to the original video dimensions.

Select the Position where the floating window should appear, then select OK.
