Creative Cloud issues with InDesign

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Resolve linked Creative Cloud Library elements reverting to local libraries by unlinking and resaving documents in Adobe InDesign.

When Creative Cloud Libraries integration encounters synchronization issues, InDesign documents may display linked library elements with unresolved cloud icons, preventing access to updated assets and breaking the connection to your Creative Cloud Libraries.

Before you begin

Back up all affected InDesign files. This workflow involves saving documents to disk, and any error during the process may result in data loss. Don’t save your InDesign file if the changes on screen don’t reflect what you want to see.

Unresolved linked elements

Delete librarylookupfile from ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Creative Cloud Libraries/LIBS (macOS) or C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Creative Cloud Libraries\LIBS (Windows).

Open your InDesign document and check if you can see the original canvas. For each linked element, you can view a cloud icon with a red dot indicating that InDesign is unable to resolve the link.

Hold Option (macOS) or Alt (Windows) and select the cloud icon to open the Links panel.

Right-click the unresolved link and select Unlink. The cloud icon on the canvas disappears. Repeat this for each unresolved link.

Save the document if it appears as expected.

Restart your computer.
