Learn how to change animation order in Adobe InDesign using the Timing panel for interactive documents.

Change animation order in InDesign to control when and how animated objects play in interactive documents. The Timing panel lets you reorder animations, add delays, and synchronize multiple effects. Animations are organized by trigger events, such as page load or page click, allowing you to control playback sequence and timing across objects.

Select Window > Interactive > Timing.

From the Event drop-down menu, choose On Page Load or On Page Click to view the assigned animations.

Drag an animation up or down in the list to change its playback order.

To play multiple animations at the same time, select the required animations by using Shift to select a range or Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) to select nonadjacent items.

Select the Play Together icon to link the selected animations.

In Linked Items, enter a value in the Play field or select Loop for continuous playback.

To separate linked animations, select the linked items, then select the Play Separately icon.

To delay an animation, select the animation, then enter a value in the Delay field.

To change the trigger event, select the animation, select the panel menu icon, then choose Reassign to On Page Load or Reassign to On Page Click.

To remove an animation from the current event, select the panel menu icon, then select Remove Item.

To view removed animations, select Unassigned from the Event drop-down menu.
