Adjust text resizing for accessibility

Last updated on Jun 2, 2026

Learn how to adjust the text resizing options in Adobe InDesign while exporting to EPUB (Reflowable) format.

Prevent text clipping across the document

You can prevent text clipping for grouped or anchored frames across the document.

Select File > Export.

Type the file name in the Save As field and select EPUB (Reflowable) from the Format dropdown menu.

Select Save.

Select the Object tab from the EPUB - Reflowable Layout Export Options dialog box and then select an option from the CSS Size drop-down menu:

  • None: Removes all CSS size rules targeting the text frames, groups, and anchored frames along with their components. This allows images and other objects to reflow in the available space as needed without mimicking the print layout, and prevents text clipping during export.
  • Fixed: Maintains the current layout without any modifications.
  • Relative to Text Flow: Resizes text and image relatively and proportionally according to text flow.

Prevent text clipping for the selected frame

Select the overset text frame and then select Object > Object Export Options.

Select the EPUB and HTML tab from the Object Export Options dialog box and then select None from the Size drop-down menu. This option only affects text frames (grouped or anchored) and not images.

Select File > Export and then select EPUB (Reflowable) from the Format drop-down menu. The exported EPUB document will show the complete content of the selected text frame.

Enhancements and limitations

  • The default option is Relative to Text Flow.
  • Indents and spacing (left, right, top, and bottom indents, space before, and space after) in Paragraph Styles are automatically converted to em units in the exported CSS, regardless of the original units used in the design.
  • The previous Relative to Text Flow export behavior remains unchanged, and text clipping may still occur unless the None option is used.
