Discover InDesign AI Assistant, a conversational agent that handles the repetitive, multi-step work in your layouts so you can focus on the creative decisions only you can make.

  Explore the beta app
InDesign (Beta) is available for testing and feedback. Try it now to experience new features.

InDesign AI Assistant works within your InDesign documents and understands your file's context, so you can move from idea to output faster. Instead of manually executing repetitive tasks across dozens of pages, formats, or markets, you describe what you need, and the assistant handles the execution. Every output is editable, non-destructive, and ready to refine.

Note

This feature is available only in English (North America) and English (International).

AI Assistant includes a complimentary daily credit limit. Once reached, credits reset the next day.

How it works

AI Assistant turns creative intent into action through a conversational workflow:

  • Ask a question or describe the task in plain language: Tell the assistant what you need. For example, apply localized copy across open documents or check a 100-page catalog for print readiness.
  • The assistant plans and executes the workflow: InDesign AI Assistant interprets your request and matches your intent to the structure, content, and context of your file, providing guidance, asking for clarification, and taking action to process it.
  • Review, refine, and accept: Every action the assistant takes is inspectable and reversible through native InDesign history. Accept, modify, or reject suggestions at any point.

Key capabilities

  • Conversational guidance, always in context: Ask how something works and get a clear, accurate answer without leaving your document. That's less time searching and more time creating.
  • Document structure setup in a prompt: Define grids, adjust margins, place page numbers, align objects, and build flexible layouts by describing what you need, without navigating the menu.
  • Multistep workflows, with you in control: Update typography across frames, apply effects to every image, resize and transform objects document-wide, and manage color and swatches across your templates, all from a single prompt. Every action lands exactly where you intend, and nothing is committed until you are ready.
