Learn how to edit motion paths in Adobe InDesign to control animation movement in interactive documents.

Edit motion paths in InDesign to control the direction and movement of animated objects. Motion paths define the trajectory an object follows during playback and can be adjusted to match your layout. Paths can be modified with standard editing tools, allowing you to adjust anchor points and curves for precise control over animation.

Select the animated object using the Selection tool.

Use the Direct Selection tool and Pen tool to edit the motion path as you would edit any path.

Open the Animation panel (Window > Interactive).

Select a path and an object.

Select the panel menu icon, then choose Convert to Motion Path to create a motion path from an existing path.

Select Properties in the Animation panel, then choose an option from the Animate drop-down menu to change the animation direction.

To remove unnecessary anchor points, select the Delete Anchor Point tool, then select the anchor point to remove.

Select the motion path, then choose Object > Paths > Reverse Path to reverse the animation direction.

Remove the animation before reversing the path, then reapply it to preserve the object's position.
