Learn how to adjust document dimensions proportionally or asymmetrically in Adobe InDesign to fit your printer's paper size.
Use document scaling to print oversized pages on smaller paper without changing the document size. Scale proportionally or adjust width and height independently. Asymmetric scaling can compensate for print distortions such as plate stretching.
Scale document dimensions manually
Select Width under Options in the Setup area of the Print dialog box to activate the scaling fields.
Select Constrain Proportions to maintain the document's width-to-height ratio.
Deselect for asymmetric scaling.
Enter percentage values from 1 to 1000 in the Width and Height fields.
If Constrain Proportions is selected, changing one value updates the other to maintain proportions.
Note
When you print spreads, each spread is scaled separately.
Scale document to fit paper automatically
Select File > Print.
Confirm that both Tile and Thumbnail are unselected in the Setup area of the Print dialog box.
Select Scale To Fit.
