Add artboards to the current document

Learn how to add artboards to your document in Adobe Photoshop to design multiple layouts in one file.

Artboards let you design multiple screens or layouts in a single Photoshop document. You can add new artboards to expand your project without creating separate files.

Draw new artboards

Select the Artboard tool, grouped with the Move tool. You may need to select and hold the Move tool to access it.

Drag anywhere on the canvas to draw a new artboard of any size.

Tip

To use a preset size, select one from the Size dropdown menu in the Options bar.

Double-click the artboard name in the Layers panel to rename it.

Select the artboard in the Layers panel and design each artboard like its own canvas. You can add smart objects, layers, and layer groups to the artboard.

Add more artboards

You can also add more artboards to your document by using the Plus icons that appear alongside existing artboards.

Select the Artboard tool grouped with the Move tool. You may need to select and hold the Move tool to access it.

Select an existing artboard in your document. The icons appear on the sides of the selected artboard.

Select a icon to add a new artboard in that direction.

To duplicate an artboard with all its contents, hold Option (macOS) or Alt (Windows) while you select a icon.
