Duplicate objects as you transform

Learn how to replicate layers or selections in Adobe Photoshop while applying transformations to work faster and keep originals intact.

In complex Photoshop designs, you often need duplicate objects in varying sizes, angles, or positions. Instead of replicating and transforming separately, use a shortcut to do both simultaneously.

Select the layer or the selection you want to duplicate and transform.

Press Ctrl + Alt + T (Windows) or Command + Option + T (macOS) to create a duplicate and enter Free Transform mode.

Drag inside the bounding box to move the duplicate, use the corner or side handles to scale, and hover near a corner to rotate when the rotate cursor appears.

Press Enter (Windows) or Return (macOS).
