Before you begin

To open the color picker, select Set foreground color or Set background color from the toolbox.

Choose a color using the HSB model

The HSB model defines colors by Hue (color type), Saturation (intensity), and Brightness (lightness).

Select H in the Color Picker.

Enter a value in the H text box between 0° and 360°.

Adjust saturation and brightness by:

  • Selecting a spot in the color field,
  • Dragging the circular marker, or
  • Entering values in the S and B text boxes.

(Optional) Select S or B to display saturation or brightness in the color field for fine-tuning.

Choose a color using the RGB model

The RGB model mixes three colors of light: Red, Green, and Blue to create the desired variation.

Enter values in the R, G, and B text boxes within a range of 0 to 255.

You can also select a spot in the color field, which displays a mix of the other two components not selected among the R, G, and B.

Choose a color using the Lab model

Enter values in the L, A, and B text boxes with the following ranges:

  • L: 0–100 (lightness)
  • A: –128 to +127 (green to red)
  • B: –128 to +127 (blue to yellow)

You can also adjust the colors using the color field.

Choose a color using the CMYK model

The CMYK model is based on printing inks: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black.

Enter percentage values for C, M, Y, and K in their text boxes between 0% and 100%.

You can also adjust the colors using the color field.

Choose a color by specifying a hexadecimal value

A hexadecimal (hex) value is a 6-digit code representing RGB values. It’s often used in web and digital design.

Enter a value in the # text box to pick a color.
