Work with meshes

Learn about meshes in Adobe Photoshop, which provide a flexible grid that lets you precisely distort or reshape parts of an image while keeping other areas intact.

What are meshes in Photoshop?

Meshes are grid patterns that appear over your image in tools such as Liquify, Warp, and Puppet Warp. They act as a visual framework, showing how pixels move, stretch, or compress as you edit.

Benefits of using meshes

  • Meshes offer several advantages when working with distortion effects:
  • Visual feedback: Track how your edits affect the image structure.
  • Precision: Maintain proportions and alignment more easily.
  • Consistency: Apply the same distortion pattern across multiple edits.
  • Progress tracking: See which areas have been modified and to what extent.

Mesh options in Liquify

  • In the Liquify dialog box, you can:
  • Select Show Mesh to toggle mesh visibility.
  • Adjust Mesh Size for finer or coarser grids.
  • Change Mesh Color to improve contrast.
  • Save meshes for reuse or load previously saved meshes for consistent effects.
