Draw freeform selections with the Lasso tool

Learn how to use the Lasso tool to draw and refine freeform selection borders in Adobe Photoshop.

Select the Lasso tool from the toolbar.

Enter a Feather value in the Options bar to soften the selection edges.

Select the Anti-alias checkbox to create smoother selection edges.

Select Add to selection , Subtract from selection , or Intersect with selection from the Options bar.

Drag freely to create a freehand selection border.

Hold Alt (Windows) or Option (macOS) and select to set start and end points for straight-edged segments.

Release the mouse button to close the selection border.
