Learn how to use layer styles to add professional-looking drop shadows in Adobe Photoshop that create depth and dimension to your text elements.

Adding drop shadows to text in Adobe Photoshop is a simple yet effective way to make it stand out from the background. This creates the illusion of depth by making the text float above the surface, improving readability and visual appeal.

Select the text layer in the Layers panel that you want to add a drop shadow to.

Select the Add a layer style   icon > Drop Shadow.

Text with Drop Shadow effect applied. The Layer Style panel displays Drop Shadow settings.
Adjust the Drop Shadow settings to customize the shadow effect.

Adjust the Opacity, Distance, Spread, and other settings in the Layer Style dialog as needed.

You can view the effect listed under your text layer in the Layers panel and toggle the effect visibility by selecting the eye   icon next to Drop Shadow.

Select OK to apply the effect.
