Dock or undock panels

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn to dock or undock panels to organize your workspace in Adobe Photoshop.

A dock is a collection of panels grouped together vertically. You can dock and undock panels by moving them into and out of the dock.

Select Window, then select each panel you want to display, such as Brushes, Layers, or Swatches. The panels open in your Photoshop workspace.

To dock a panel, drag it by it’s tab to the edge of another panel or panel group.

Release the tab when a blue highlight appears.

To dock a panel group, drag it by its title bar.

To undock a panel or group, drag it by its tab or title bar.

Note

You can also drag a panel into another dock or make it free-floating.

Drag the bottom edge of the dock up so it no longer meets the edge of the workspace. It prevents panels from filling the entire workspace.
