Add Emoji glyphs

Insert colorful emoji into text using the Glyphs panel or system shortcuts in Adobe Photoshop for enhanced designs.

Adobe Photoshop supports emoji through the Noto Color Emoji SVG font, which replaced the previously bundled EmojiOne font. This OpenType SVG font displays emojis in full color with gradients, making them perfect for adding visual interest to your designs.

Using the Glyphs panel

Select the Horizontal Type tool or Vertical Type tool to create a new type layer or select an existing one.

Select the font Noto Color Emoji SVG from the Options bar, Character panel, or Properties panel. This will automatically open the Glyphs panel.

Tip

If you don’t see the Glyphs panel, select Window > Glyphs.

Browse through the Glyphs panel to find the emoji you want to use, and select on any emoji glyph to insert it into your text layer at the current cursor position.

Double-click any emoji glyph from the Glyphs panel to add it as text in your document.

Using keyboard shortcuts on Windows

Select a type layer and position your cursor where you want to insert an emoji.

Press Windows + . (period) to open the on-screen emoji keyboard.

Select an emoji to add it or use the category tabs to browse different emoji types.

Press Esc to close the emoji keyboard.

Using Character Viewer on macOS

Select a type layer and position your cursor where you want to insert an emoji.

Press Control + Command + Space to open the character viewer.

Select a category from the list, and then double-click an emoji to add it to your text layer.

Select the close x button to close the Character Viewer.
