Adjust Content-Aware Fill settings

Learn about the settings in the Content-Aware Fill panel, including sampling area overlay, fill options, and output controls in Adobe Photoshop.

The Content-Aware Fill panel provides several options to refine how Photoshop samples source pixels and applies the fill. You can control the sampling area, adjust fill behavior, and choose how results are output.

Sampling area overlay

Setting

Show Sampling Area

Displays the overlay on the image in the document window. The reset icon restores the default sampling area.

On or off.

Opacity

Controls the transparency of the overlay.

Slider, a percentage value between 0% to 100%.

Color

Assigns a display color to the overlay. Select the color swatch to open the Adobe Color Picker.

Indicates

Defines whether the overlay shows the sampling area or the excluded area.

Aligns rotated or curved patterns with surrounding content.

Scale

Resizes content to match repeating patterns of different sizes or perspectives.

Mirror

Flips the content horizontally to match symmetrical images.

On or off.

The reset icon restores all fill settings to default values.
