Sample from all visible layers

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn about how sampling from all visible layers enhances your editing capabilities when using tools like Clone Stamp and Healing Brush.

What is multi-layer sampling?

Multi-layer sampling involves sampling pixel data from all visible layers at once rather than a single layer. This approach gives you greater flexibility when retouching or colour-correcting complex projects. It also lets you pull information from the entire image while keeping each layer non-destructive and editable.

This option is handy when:

  • Color matching across multiple adjustment and image layers with the Eyedropper tool.
  • Retouching with the Healing Brush tool or Clone Stamp tool to blend corrections into the overall composition.
Note

Selecting the All Layers option from the Sample dropdown in supported tools gives you more control over how colors and textures are sourced, making your edits more natural and efficient.
