Save large documents

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn how to manage oversized documents in Adobe Photoshop using specialized formats.

Note

Make sure you have enough disk space. Use special formats for images larger than 30,000 pixels in width or height, or documents over 2GB.

Select File > Save As.

Enter the document name and select its location (local or Creative Cloud) in the Save As dialog box.

Select a format from the Save as type (Windows) or Format (macOS) dropdown:

  • Large Document Format (*.PSB): Saves documents of any size with full Photoshop feature support. However, some plug-ins may not work if your document exceeds 30,000 pixels in width or height.
  • Photoshop Raw (*.RAW): Saves documents of any size. This format flattens your documents and doesn’t support layers.
  • TIFF (*.TIF,*.TIFF): Saves documents up to 4GB in size. Documents larger than this limit can’t be saved in TIFF format.

Select any additional saving options as needed.

Select Save.
