Remove objects with Content-Aware Fill

Learn how to remove objects from your images and fill the area with the surrounding pixels in Adobe Photoshop.

Select the object to remove. You can use the Object Selection tool, the Quick Selection tool, or the Magic Wand tool to select your subject.

Select Content-Aware Fill by right-clicking within the selection. This opens the Content-Aware Fill workspace.

Select the Lasso tool from the toolbar. In the Options bar, use the Expand button to increase the selection edges or the Contract button to reduce them.

Select OK in the workspace to apply the fill. Photoshop replaces the selected object with surrounding pixels.

Tip

Refine the selection edges carefully before applying the fill for a more natural-looking result.
