Work with the Layers panel

Learn how to access, organize, and manage your layers using the Layers panel for efficient editing and organization in Adobe Photoshop.

The Layers panel visually represents all layers in your document, allowing you to select, hide, reorder, and modify layers without affecting other elements.

To access the panel, select Window > Layers.

To show or hide a layer, select the eye icon next to the layer thumbnail.

To change layer order, drag a layer up or down in the Layers panel.

To rename a layer, double-click the layer name, type a new one, and press Enter (Windows) or Return (macOS).

To create a new layer, select the Create a new layer icon in the Layers panel.
