Resize the canvas using the crop tool

Learn how to resize your canvas in Adobe Photoshop using the Crop tool without trimming any part of your image.
Note
For a non-destructive crop, ensure that Delete Cropped Pixels is turned off in the Options bar.
Drag the crop handles outward to extend the canvas beyond the image boundaries.
Press Enter (Windows) or Return (macOS) to apply the canvas resize.
