Draw shapes

Learn how to create and customize shapes using the shapes tool group in Adobe Photoshop.

To draw a shape on the canvas, click and drag any tool from the shapes tool group in the Tools panel.

Hold the Shift key while drawing the shape to make it proportional.

Select the Contextual Task Bar (Window > Contextual Task Bar) to edit shape properties:

  • Fill: Select a color to fill the shape.
  • Stroke: Select the color, width, and type of stroke.
  • Duplicate layer: Create an exact copy of a selected layer so it can be reused or modified without changing the original.
Note

You can also select Shape Properties from the Properties panel or the Options bar to edit shape properties.
