Learn how the Clone Source panel helps you clone precisely by managing multiple sample sources, scaling, rotating, and aligning content in Adobe Photoshop.

Overview of the Clone Source panel

The Clone Source panel lets you manage how your sample behaves when using the Clone Stamp or Healing Brush tool. It allows you to scale, rotate, or align your sample and view an overlay to guide accurate cloning. You can save up to five sources and switch between them without needing to resample.

Benefits of using the Clone Source panel

The panel gives you more control and efficiency when retouching images. It’s especially helpful for symmetrical edits, repeating patterns, or complex compositions across multiple layers.

Key capabilities of the Clone Source panel

  • Multiple sources: Save up to five sample sources and switch as needed.
  • Transform tools: Scale, rotate, or flip the sample to better match your target area.
  • Overlay preview: View a live overlay to align content before applying it.
  • Sampling behavior: Choose whether sampling restarts or continues from the last point.
  • Layer sampling control: Sample from the current layer, all layers, or visible layers.
