Remove imperfections with the Spot Healing Brush

Learn how to repair blemishes, spots, and other small flaws in your photos using the Spot Healing Brush for natural-looking results.

Select the Spot Healing Brush tool.

In the Options bar at the top, set the Size, Hardness, and Spacing based on the area you want to fix. Larger sizes cover more area, higher Hardness gives sharper edges, lower Hardness softens edges, and lower Spacing creates smoother strokes.

Select Content-Aware from the Options bar for Photoshop to automatically analyze nearby pixels and fill the corrected area while maintaining image details.

Note

Select Edit > Fill and set to Content-Aware. This method lets you apply Content-Aware Fill to a selection instead of painting manually, which can be useful for covering big objects or irregular areas.

Select Sample All Layers from the Options bar to use data from all visible layers or deselect it to sample only from the active layer.

Select or drag over imperfections to automatically blend the surrounding pixels and repair the area.
