Adjust preferences

Learn how to customize and save app settings, including display, file saving, performance, presets, and plug-ins from the Preferences dialog in Adobe Photoshop.

All settings are saved when you close the app, but they are lost if you force quit or the app crashes.

By default, settings in Preferences migrate from a prior version to an updated version, and you can choose to keep or remove them upon uninstalling a version.

Select Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Photoshop > Settings (macOS) to open the Preferences dialog.

Tip

You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + K (Windows) or Command + K (macOS).

Select the Preferences category from General, Interface, Workspace, and more to adjust the settings.
