Add glyphs

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Insert special characters, symbols, and alternative glyphs into your text in Adobe Photoshop.

The Glyphs panel provides special characters, symbols, and alternative character forms that might not be easily accessible from your keyboard. This feature is especially useful when you need to add punctuation marks, currency symbols, mathematical symbols, or characters from other languages to your text.

The Glyphs panel works with any active text layer and supports Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic scripts. It has limited support for Hebrew, Arabic, and other complex scripts, such as Indic scripts.

Create a new text layer, or select an existing text layer using the Horizontal Type tool or the Vertical Type tool.

Position your text cursor where you want to insert the glyph.

Select Window > Glyphs to open the Glyphs panel, and browse through the available glyphs.

Tip

You can view a specific set of glyphs by selecting Set font family, Set font style, or Set font category.

Double-click the glyph you want to insert. The character is added at your cursor position in the text layer.
