Import preset style libraries

Last updated on Oct 27, 2025

Learn to access and apply preset styles for quick application of effects to your layers in Adobe Photoshop.

Photoshop comes with numerous preset layer styles organized into libraries by function. Whether you need web buttons, text effects, or other creative styles, loading the appropriate library will save you time and enhance your workflow.

Layer styles are non-destructive effects linked to layer contents. When you move or edit the content of a layer, the same effects are automatically applied to the modified content.

Open the Styles panel by selecting Window > Styles.

Select the panel menu   icon and select Import Styles.

Navigate to the location of the style library you want to load. Style libraries have the .asl file extension.

Select the style library file and select Open.
